Knowledge and skills

The course provides an overview of the concept of sustainability in food packaging. Participants will learn about the protective functions of packaging in preserving food during its shelf life and examine the importance of packaging in reducing food loss and waste.
Participants will develop analytical skills to evaluate and design innovative and sustainable food packaging solutions.

What Will You Learn?

  • The aim of the course is to impart knowledge about the importance of sustainability in the area of food packaging. This applies in particular to the protective functions of packaging during the shelf life of food products. The interaction between food packaging and food waste is analysed and the causes, problems and effects of packaging-related food losses and waste are addressed. Existing and innovative solutions and strategies to make food packaging more sustainable are analysed.
